Florist on a Mission

florist-Azuma-Makoto-ExobiotanicaIn 2014 Japanese florist Azuma Makoto sent some very unusual things into the stratosphere. Above the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, a flower bouquet and a bonsai tree hung 30,000 meters high attached to a specially equipped balloon. Several high-speed cameras documented the trip and created 12,000 photographs. The project is called Exobiotanica: a documentary project that captures the series of scenes and events, including the state of the plant freed from the ground and confronting with Earth, to the very moment that it returns to the soil.
