Interesting Lady: The White Mouse
“Freedom is the only thing worth living for. While I was doing that work, I used to think it didn’t matter if I died, because without freedom there was no point in living”I had – shame on me – never heard of the Australian Nancy Wake a.k.a. The White Mouse, a fearless multi-decorated Special Operations Executive during WWII. At one point she even killed an SS officer with her bare hands to stop him from raising alarm. Reading her biography I want posthumously pay my respect to this woman larger than life. What a female role model. She died at 98 in 2011.
Makes you wonder how the rest of her life felt. What do you do after a period in your life when you were “like five men”. Did anything compare?
