Interesting Lady: Vivian Maier

The story of street photographer Vivian Maier (1926-2009) is an interesting one: for most of her life she worked as a nanny and took pictures in her spare time. During her lifetime she was extremely productive – she took more than 150,000 photographs, mostly of people and cities. When she died, she was unknown as a photographer, destitute, and there were no next of kin. It was only by accident that the collector John Maloof came into possession of some of her work. He decided to put some of the photographs online, where they went viral. The rest is history.
